Back home!

Epilogue (7/08/08):

I hope to follow-up with Fanny and Martha later this summer/fall when they plan on visiting Rochester to speak at the college, update churches, and raise additional support. They have considerable more irons in the fire and various relationships being forged than what we witnessed in our short time there. But one goal we have together is to raise awareness of the struggling network of churches and the country as a whole. During the flight, I also did some journaling just of thoughts/observations of the country in general and what I gathered from different conversations. The next entry contains that report.

Zimbabwe report

Also, much has happened in the country since we were there. On June 27th, the "official" run-off election was held, and predictably, Mugabe and his party have remained in power. By all accounts the election was a sham, and the intimidation and brutal force used up to that point basically strangled any opposition's chances. On June 28th, Fanny wrote in part:

My email was not working since last week. We thank you for praying for us... The rerun was yersterday but things are not well. We thank God that you came the right time or could not have gone to Karoi churches if you came this time. I was able to take the medical things you brought to Chidamoyo hospital and the mission workers at the hospital were very thankful. I will give them your email so that they will thank you and the group that brought the supplies for the hospital. A family -the Payson wrote and said that they send in a box of sawing materila for Martha. They said you had told them about our ministry. Thank you. All people seem to be doing well but things are getting high on prices each day. When you were here I bought milk for 200million dollars for a 200ml, the same is now costing 3.5 billion dollars. We have finished painting inside the house and now we are painting outside. I will need to get some more paint... We are very thankful for the coming of your group. I will write more.

Bye for now.
